As a wholesale water customer of Fort Worth, the twice a week watering schedule listed below is in effect year-round for the City of Roanoke. For questions about watering, please call 817-491-6099.
The City of Roanoke irrigation ordinance limits outdoor watering with an irrigation system or hose-end sprinkler to a maximum of 2 assigned days per week for all customers. Residential customers whose addresses end in odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9) are permitted to water lawn and landscapes only on Sundays and Thursdays. Addresses ending in even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8 or 0) may water on Saturdays and Wednesdays only. Non-residential customers, including apartments, businesses, parks and common areas, can water only on Tuesday and Fridays. No watering is allowed on Mondays.
Time of Day Restriction
The time of day restriction, which prohibits outdoor watering with sprinklers between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., continues to be in effect.
Lawns and landscaping may be watered on any day, at any time, by handheld hose, drip irrigation, a soaker hose or tree bubbler. (The intent of this measure is to allow for the protection of structural foundations, trees, and other high value landscape materials).
A City of Roanoke Director or official designee may grant variances to allow for establishment of hydromulch, grass sod, or grass seed for new lawns.
Water Conservation Measures
Hotels, restaurants and bars are encouraged to serve water only upon request.
It's discouraged to establish new turf and a variance is required to do so.
No hosing of buildings or other structures for purposes other than fire protection is allowed.
Residents are encouraged to avoid hosing of paved areas, such as:
